My Everyday Make Up Routine

I thought it might be fun to do a post on the make up products I use every day. This obviously changes from time to time as I'll use a different blusher, or I might put eyeshadow on but I'll mention that as we go along. So, here goes!

After cleansing and toning, I use my fingers to apply the Nivea Moisturiser. I'm not using a primer at the moment, they really don't work for me. I apply my Revlon ColourStay foundation in 'Ivory' after my moisturiser before all the moisturiser has sunk into my skin. I like the dewy finish that this creates. I use my fingertips to blend my foundation in. After that I apply Benefit 'Boi-ing' to any problem areas, mainly on my chin and around my nose.

Then I set my foundation with MAC 'Mineralize Skin Finish' in 'Light Medium'. I use my ELF 'Total Face' brush for this as it covers a large surface area. Then I would usually pencil in my eyebrows, but I haven't taken a photo of this.

I then apply my eyeliner. At the moment I'm using MAC 'Feline' which I've recently purchased and I like to blend this out a bit with my smashbox double-ended eyeliner brush. Sorry it's dirty :/ Sometimes I'll use Rimmel's 'Exaggerate' liquid eyeliner which I've used for yeaaarrrsss. If I was to wear eyeshadow, I'd apply it before my eyeliner but I don't wear it everyday, hence why I haven't included any in this post.

Then on to highlighter. I change my mind about which brush I use for this on a daily basis. Shown is my ELF Bronzing brush and I use a small eyeshadow brush to highlight under my brows. This highlighter is the one I mainly use. This is Prestige skin loving minerals sunbaked mineral bronzing powder in '03 - Pure Shimmer'. Catchy name ;) haha.

Next I apply my blush. Again, I change my mind on which brush I like to use. Shown is a MAC 168 and Sonia Kashuk Flat Top brush. I always blend my blush out with my Bella Pierre blush brush. My two current favourites are NYX 'Silky Rose' and ELF 'Candid Coral' as you know, I love to rave about this. I often change my blusher. I also love Illamasqua cream blushers, Benefit Coralista, MAC Well Dressed and a few more. But these two are my go to ones.

I always leave my mascara until last. I hate applying mascara. I don't know why there's just something I really don't like about it but I love the way it makes my eyelashes look. Strangely, in my storage, my mascara draw is fuller than any other draw. The two mascaras shown are Rimmel 'Sexy Curves' and Eyeko 'Big Eyes' mascara. I always use two mascaras and these are the two I have on the go currently.

And finally(!!!) A bit of lippy. I have two that I wear more often than others. These are MAC 'Plink!' which I've just had to buy a new one of and MAC 'Hue'. None of my other lipsticks (maybe except YSL Rouge Volupte..) come close to these.

So thats it! It might seem like a lot to some people but It's my routine. I'd love to know if you use any of these products and what your every day make up is! Let me know!

Soap and Glory Skin Care

When I went to Boots on wednesday I saw that Soap & Glory products were all 1/3 off. I took advantage of this to try out some of the skin care products as, aside from the cleansing wipes, I'd never tried any before. The two products I picked up were 'The Fab Pore' 15 minute facial peel and 'Super Eyes, Super Eyes' moisturising eye gel.

'The Fab Pore'

This cost me £3.91 instead of the RRP of £5.88. Total saving - £1.97.
This face mask claims to tighten pores and smooth your skins surface. Soap and Glory claim that this is down to: ''Fomes Officinalis Extract' which is apparently a mushroom extract that helps tighten pores. 'Salicylic Acid' which loosens up the dead cells that contibute to pore clogging. 'Kablin' That's cosmetic for clay. It sops up extra oil on your skin and smoothes your skin's surface! 'Vitamins E & C' Antioxidants.'

We shall see. I tried this on wednesday night and my skin was left feeling soft. Soap and Glory say to leave it on for fifteen minute for a 'real deep-cleaning do-it-yourself kind of 'facial'.' So that's how long I left it on for. It's no facial, but my skin was smooth. Going to trial this for a bit longer before I give any real opinions on it though. One thing that does put my off is the scent. It's hard to describe but it's a little unpleasant.

'Super Eyes, Super Eyes'

This cost me £5.24 instead of the RRP of £7.87. Total saving - £2.63.
I've got quite nasty dark circles under my eyes. In my attempt to combat this I'm starting to try out different gels and creams for my eyes. Soap and Glory say to 'pat a layer of Super Eyes, Super Eyes around the contour of your eyes every morning and/or evening - whenever toy feel like you need a little lift'. This product contains 'de-puffing caffeine, pro-vitamin panthenol and soothing aloe vera juice'.

I was a little put off when I first opened this as the gel contains a pink shimmer in it. However, this doesn't show up when I put this under my eyes which is a good thing! My first thoughts.. well, I'm not sure yet. Going to also give this one a fair trial before I give my opinions.

Have you tried any of these products before or are you keen to? Let me know!

The Body Shop £1 Sale Goodies!

Walking past The Body Shop I noticed the '£1 end of sale' sign on the window so I nipped in to have a mooch, convinced that there wouldn't be anything left that I wanted. To my surprise I found these 3 lovely items all for £1 and they were also 3 for 2 so - £2!!

Silver Eye Colour Cream
Blush Trio '01' Cool Dusk
Eye Trio '01' Moonlight Lustre

I wanted the pink blush trio when I first saw it in the sale when it was £5 reduced from £12.50. I'm so glad I waited, £1 is a complete bargain. The eyeshadow trio was reduced from £9.50 to £4 and then to £1.

Have you got anything from the body shop sale? Or maybe you've put off buying something and got it for a bargain price? Let me know!!

No7 Spring Collection - Natural Radiance Highlighter

For those of you that aren't aware, of even for those of you who were but just forgot, the No7 Limited Edition Spring Collection launched in Boots today. The collection is small, comprising of two lipsticks, a highlighter an eyshadow quad. The only thing that really jumped out at me was the highlighter and after swatching, it had to be mine. I was umming and ahhing over the lipstick in 'Carnelian' but in the end decided that it wasn't for me. I'm quite picky about my lipsticks.

This is what the packing for the 'Natural Radiance Highlighter' looks like. Once you open the shiny silver box, you see this beauty. I don't know about you but I think it looks pretty and unique. As I've said before, No7 isn't a brand I buy from very often. This is because in my opinion, the products just aren't quite worth the price. But this highlighter, is a stunner. I also had a £5 off voucher burning a hole in my purse so I got this for £8 when it retails for £13.

The highlighter itself is a gorgeous golden shimmer and the swatch shown below is after just swiping it on my finger once. It applies smoothly and gives a lovely radiance to the skin - perfect for spring and even summer. No7 says 'This kind to your skin mineral highlighter glides onto skin highlighting and sculpting with divine shimmer. Lightweight and sheer in colour it contains our unique semi-precious stone complex of Ruby, Sapphire and Amethyst so light in diffused to give a natural, luminous finish with gemstone radiance and no imperfections.'

So, what do you think to the new collection? Have you been to check it out or is there something you've got your eye on perhaps? Let me know!

ELF Product Rave

I read on the Beauty Junkie London blog that the ELF Studio Blusher in 'Candid Coral' is very similar to Benefit's Coralista. If you follow me on twitter or read my wishlist post on here then you will know I've been talking about getting Coralista for absolutely ages now. For £3.50, I just had to try the ELF dupe. I think the ELF Studio line is great value for money and some of the products have become staples in my make up collection. Along with the studio line I'm also a fan of the mineral lipsicks

ELF are not only great value for money but extremely fast at sending out orders. I have always ordered products from them and recieved them the day after (with the exception of ordering on weekends of course). I was thrilled when I recieved 'Candid Coral', the packing looks high end, similar to NARS and has a little mirror inside also.

Yes you can see my hand and camera in the mirror. I'm still awful at photography, why change a habit of a lifetime :P In the pan, Candid Coral looks darker than Coralista however when I swatch them on my hand (photo to come) they are almost identical. If anything, coralista is actually a little bit pinker in colour. Now I also own Coralista (after ages of debating whether I needed it or not, finally decided I did! and thanks mum for buying it for me - haha) I can't say the staying power of the ELF blush is as good but to be honest, I never expected it to be. What I will say is that they are extremely similar with the Coralista as I said having a slightly more pink tone to it. Although this isn't an exact dupe by any means, with the ELF blush £19 cheaper than the Benefit one, in my opinion, it's perfect for beauty on a budget.

Enough comparing it to Benefit, this product is fantastic. It gives my cheeks a gorgeous glow and has moved from my blusher drawer to my every day make up bag. I will definately repurchase this. If Coral colours aren't your thing, ELF have other gorgeous shades on their website at www.eyeslipsface.co.uk that are definately worth a look.

Have you tried any of the Studio line blushes? What do you think of them and what shades do you like?

My OPIs

Along with a lot of other bloggers I have become quite a fan of OPI nail polishes lately. The cute names and the gorgeous colours keep me buying more. I only have 5 at the moment but I know that that number is going to continue to increase. I thought I'd share with you the ones I have.

Got A Date To-Knight A sheer baby pink. This is beautiful however even after 3 coats it isn't as opaque as I would like it to be. Saying that it's one of my favourite pink colours and a lovely colour for spring/summer.

You Don't Know Jacques A murky dark brown/grey colour. This shade is so unusual, another thing I love about OPI polishes. Already become a firm favourite.

My Private Jet The ever popular one. I've talked about this before in a previous post and it remains in my top 5 polishes of all time. I really wish this photo did it justice!

Lincoln Park After Dark A dark purple. Not sure about this colour yet. Again the photo doesn't quite do it justice. I'll try this out a bit more and let you know how I get on.

Mad As A Hatter From the Alice in Wonderland collection. As far as I'm aware this still isn't available in the UK, correct me if I'm wrong. This is the only shade I was interested in from the collection and to be honest, when it arrived, I was really disappointed. From photos it looked a lot more purple and in reality it's just packed with different coloured glitter. I'm hoping this one will grow on me.

So they are my current OPI nail polishes. I'm waiting for 'Don't Melbourne The Toast', a beautiful shimmery coral shade to arrive in the post. I'm moving house on friday so I'm trying not to order things online that will take longer than a couple of days to arrive so once I'm settled in my new flat I plan on making lots more orders. I'm mainly after 'Coney Island Cotton Candy' and 'Mod About You' - I know these two are very popular at the moment.

What are your favourite shades of OPI?

No Heat Challenge

Every two - three months I stop using heat completely on my hair for about a month. My hair naturally is the photo above. Obviously helped with a bit of L'Oreal Studio Out of Bed Fibre Putty ('scuse the bad lighting, I'm not a photographer :) It's actually a bit more wavy that it looks in the picture.

So no heat includes everything, hairdryer, straighteners and conical wand. It's absolutely wonderful to wash my hair, pop a bit of fibre putty on and thats it. Of course when I do use heat on my hair I use a heat protection spray but after doing this so called 'no heat challenge' for the last year or so, my hair is in such better condition after even just 4 weeks of no heat.

I quite like my hair naturally anyway although when I start straightening again I know I'll say to myself that straight looks so much better what was I thinking leaving it natural. I always do. What do you think? Do you ever go for little periods of time with no heat or can you not live without your styling tools? Let me know!!

TAG - What's In My Bag

I was tagged by the lovely Steph at Topshop Princess to do this 'What's In My Bag' Tag.

This is my bag. It's two years old and the stitching is all coming out on the handles but I just can't find another bag that I love as much as this one. It's from Topshop and it cost £30. Took ages to take a semi-decent photo of it as it's so slouchy now it's getting on a bit!

Things tend to live in here, sometimes I forget to take out lipsticks and end up with 10 in there at one time but I've cleared it out recently so we'll see how many are in there! I use this bag every day unless I'm going out when I use a black quilted chanel-esque bag from Topshop which had a chain to wear over the arm or can be tucked in for it to be an oversized clutch.

Here's whats in my bag........

Marker Pen
Face Wipes
The Body Shop Japanese Cherry Blossom Body Spray
Multivitamins for vegetarians
iPod headphones (no ipod...?!?!)
Car & House Keys
Jane Norman Purse
Blistex
Eyeko Minty Fat Balm
MAC Hue (my everyday lipstick)
Soap & Glory Sexy MotherPucker
Maybelline Ambre Rose
A Penny
Hairbands
Purple Handbag-size Clarins Mirror
Soap and Glory 'Hand Food'
One Glove....

Quite a lot really!

And I tag....

Sinead at Dainty Dollymix
Nikki at Visual Aspect '87

..and anyone else that wants to do this tag! Let me know you've done it so I can check it out.

Wishlist

I've put myself on a no-buy for a few weeks. I'm going to try my best to stick to it. I haven't got a permanent job at the moment so everything I buy is saved for, with a few exceptions of course. I'm only human and I give into temptation quite often! I've got a couple of Boots vouchers for No7 and some advantage card points so hopefully they'll help me when I've got that urge to buy something! In the meantime, I've made this little wishlist of a few things that I'm dying to get my hands on!!

Benefit Coralista I've been after this for a little while now and I keep seeing it pop up in peoples blogs and videos making me want to buy it even more! I love blushers at the moment and this seems like the most beautiful colour.

Benefit Creaseless Cream in 'Skinny Jeans' Same as above, I know that this is really popular and I've seen it on various blogs and youtube videos. I like cream eyeshadows but hate when they crease. A 'creaseless' cream sounds perfect to me!

B Never Too Busy To Be Beautiful Lip Cream in 'Bellflower' The packaging for this is beautiful. I am a bit of a sucker for packaging sometimes but the product also sounds lovely. The BNTBTBB website says ''The perfect shade of frosted pink; great on anyone. Each lipcream is presented in a Fairly Traded, handmade, jewelled hinged pot and topped with 24 carat gold leaf for a touch of luxury'. Sold!

Nars Orgasm Skin Illuminator I love NARS and there's just something about this that makes me want to try it. As far as I'm aware this isn't out in the UK yet so I can't get my hands on it even if I wasn't on a no-buy!

OPI Nail Polish in 'Coney Island Cotton Candy' As I said in a previous post, I've ordered a few OPI polishes in the last couple of weeks and this is one that I really wish I'd added on to my order! It's such a beautiful colour.

MAC 187 Brush I don't have any brushes like this at all. Dying to try it!

By Terry Or de Rose Baume Precieux I absolutely cannot justify £45 for this. Space NK website says 'An ultra-luxurious spin on By Terry’s cult product, Baume de Rose, this limited edition version is spun with pink gold to give lips a non-sticky, sparkling shine.' Limited edition things always make me want them and spun with pink gold?! Amazing!!

Have you tried any of these products?? Let me know what you think of them!

Review: NYC New York Colour Minute Nail Polish - 'Uptown'

Product
NYC New York Colour Minute Nail Polish

Cost
£2.49 in Superdrug

What They Say
'Get a manicure in a minute!

Quick drying formula with minerals! Features cutting edge shades with high impact shine. Infused with high levels of pigment for brilliant color & a touch of shimmer for dramatic depth and shine'

My Opinion
I still for the life of me, cannot get a decent picture of the bottle of this polish. So, apologies for that but there is a picture what the shade I love best 'Uptown' looks like on my nails. You can see what the bottle looks like here.

For £2.49 this product was probably not going to disappoint. I had no high expectations, just loved the colour in the bottle, a real grown up 'Barbie' pink. From the minute I applied this, I loved it more. The colour you get in the bottle is what you get on the nails. Granted it took 2 coats but I always apply 2 coats of nail polish anyway no matter what brand. It dried quickly although not quite the 'minute' it claimed to dry in, but there were no long wait between coats and I finished it off with a top coat.

A day later, no chips. I don't imagine it'll last much longer than a couple of days but I'm not expecting it to. This product is one I will definately be buying more of.

Have you tried this brand of polish? I'd love to hear what your favourite shades are and what you think.

Mini Haul

Just a mini haul from me today. I went to Leicester, mainly to snap up some more NYX products but as per usual, didn't get what I went for and treat myself to some other goodies instead.

Soap and Glory Clean on Me This is my favourite shower gel (well, its more of a cream..) ever. It lathers so well, it smells gorgeous and it's moisturising. I got the travel size in a set for christmas and have been meaning to pick this up since. If you haven't tried it, get the travel size and I'm fairly sure you'll be going to Boots for the full size after you've tried it!

Lush Ma Bar Bubble Bar I haven't tried this yet but I love the Lush bubble bars and it smells like chocolate and toffee. Yummy.

NYC Nail Polish in 'Uptown' The picture does not do this justice. It makes it look a lot darker. I tried to take a photo of it by itself but I just can't do it justice at all. I'll do a seperate post on this at some point because this colour is absolutely gorgeous and at £2.49 it's a steal.

MAC MSF Natural I don't need to tell you about this one really do I! I'm very late on the bandwagon with this but I've finally picked it up! Hurrah.

Ruby & Millie Eye Smudge Brush Due to Boots having the £5 no7/ruby and millie vouchers I got this for free! I can't comment on how good the brush yet as I haven't tried it but I will let you know if you're interested.

I also picked up a big black bangle and oversized ring from Primark. I love oversized rings and bangles, I tend to dress quite plain - vest tops/long cardis/jeans etc but I like to dress my outfits up with accessories. £2 for the bangle and £1.50 for the ring. Bargain.

Top 5 Nail Polishes

1 - OPI 'My Private Jet' This is not limited to just this shade, I've got a bit of a love for OPI polishes at the moment. I'm sure we all know about joliebeautystore on ebay now after lollipop26 mentioned them and I've got to say, they really are great. I've even ordered more this evening, can't wait until they arrive! However I picked My Private Jet because it's on my nails right now and it's the one I got most recently (today actually!!). Just a gorgeous dark yet shimmery shade that I can't get enough of!

2 - Revlon 'Revlon Red' This might sound really silly but I feel so sexy when I wear this on my nails. There's just something about red nail polish that makes me feel good and this is my ultimate favourite.

3 - Barry M 'Raspberry' Barry M nail polishes are all great value for money at £2.95. I've got a few of them but this one is my favourite. My mum keeps trying to steal it so have to hide this one away! haha. Always reach for this or my 'number 5' favourite when I can't decide what colour to wear.

4 - Rimmel Pro 'Beige Style' For me, the perfect nude nail polish and I was searching for quite a while! I also love the 'professional brush'. I'm not ashamed to say that I'm not the best at applying nail polish, I can be messy and often have to reach for the cotton buds whilst painting them but this brush eliminates all of my mistakes. Brilliant!

5 - Collection 2000 'Dynasty' As I said above, one of my two 'go-to' polishes. This is the most beautiful purpley pink colour and at £1.79, you really can't go wrong. I also love the shade 'Button Moon' which I also recommend you pick up.

So, that's my top 5 nail polishes. I know I cheated a bit by mentioning others but these shades really are my ultimate favourites, for now anyway! I'm sure there'll be another polish that will knock my socks off sooner or later. I ordered two OPI polishes 'Got a Date To-Knight' and 'Mad as a Hatter' from the Alice in Wonderland collection today and can't wait to recieve those in the post!

I'd love to hear what your top 5 are and if you, like me, love any of the polishes I've mentioned.

Photo Tag!

I was tagged by the lovely Nikki do to this. Thanks sweetheart, my first tag! Oooh :)

Here are the rules

1. Open the first photo album on your laptop/computer.

2. Scroll to the 10th Picture

3. Post the picture and tell the story behind it.

4. Tag 5 or more people

My first folder is '2006 Pics'

10th Picture....

This is a picture of me and my best friend Rosi in Huddersfield. Yes I am the bleach blonde on the right. I know it's not a good look but I was 17 and stupid and thought I'd try something different! We had very little money at this time and were at college in Leeds so had bus passes that entitled us to the West Yorkshire day riders for £1.20 or something like that. So, that's what we did, went on a bus trip around West Yorkshire. Exciting. Haha.

Story behind this photo isn't that exciting but you can see my hair disaster at least!

Ins and Outs Number 2

IN
No Foundation - Trust me, I wouldn't be seen dead wearing none if I actually left the house this week, other than to pop to the shop. Snow (which I'm not going to bang on about don't worry!) has meant I've been pretty much housebound. I live in a village, new driver... you get the picture. However I've worn very little make up this week, just mascara (as seen in the b&w photo) and my skin is loving it! Woo. Back to slapping on the Revlon ColourStay next week though I bet!

Reading - Been really getting into reading again this week. I do try to read often but I've been slacking a bit. I'm a massive fan of Paulo Coelho and I'm reading another of his books this week.

My Followers - CHEESEY! haha. Seriously, I might not have many of you but you're all great. Especially Nikki! She puts up with me bothering her on twitter a LOT! Haha

OUT

Snow - I refuse to say more on the matter

Moving House - I've moved house soooo much in the last few years. I thought this would be the end of moving for a while at least but in Feb I'll be moving again. Only to the next village but I really can't stand all the packing and unpacking.. ugh! I've sworn to myself that I wont leave it all until the last minute this time. Hah. We'll see!

The end of the L Word - I watched the end of season 6 today - so sad there's not going to be another series! I need to know who killed Jenny!!!!

NYX

Firstly I'd like to say thanks to everyone who commented on my pale skin. Glad to know I'm not alone and will be trying out some if not all of your recommendations asap and I'll let you know what I think!!

So I made my first NYX purchase at the weekend. From House of Fraser in Leicester if any of you were wondering, I was really surprised to see a whole stand.. Was umming and ahhing over what products to get. I really want to try the jumbo eye pencils but the shade I really want (French Fries) wasn't there so I decided to add to my growing blush collection and pick up a pretty lipgloss too.

Blush in PB04 Silky Rose and Lipgloss in 104 Sweet Heart

So far I'm loving these products, especially the blush. I'll definately be buying more. What are your favourite NYX products you think I should try??

Ghost Town..

I'm pale, I mean super pale. I never get my legs out because I'm told I look like Casper the friendly ghost. I don't use fake tan, never have, probably never will. I embrace the pale! I've been watching a few youtube videos on pin-up looks lately and it makes me laugh when they say 'use a foundation lighter than your skin tone..' erm, I'd love to but that would actually be white! I find it so incredibly hard to find a drugstore foundation that matches my skin tone. I'm using Revlon ColourStay in Ivory at the moment and it's probably the closest match I've found. I can't use Rimmel because they all make me look orange, I like maybelline but its not enough coverage for my combination skin.. it's a vicious circle.

Anyone else have this problem?! I feel like I'm the only one!

NOTD: No7 Totally Teal

Hurrah, Boots No7 £5 off vouchers are back. I don't often buy many No7 products as I think they can be a bit overpriced for what they are but I definately can't turn my nose up when the vouchers are around again. I picked up this beaut 'Totally Teal' yesterday for £1.25! Love it. Applied badly as I was in a rush but you get the idea. Gorgeous colour for this season in my opinion and great dupe for Nails Inc 'Portland Place'.

Red Lipstick

I'm not sure how I feel about red lipstick on me. I often see it on other people and think 'wow that looks amaze, I need to wear mine more' then when I put it on I feel silly and take it off before I leave the house. Photo above is me wearing GOSH Soft and Shine Lip Balm in 41 'Kiss'. What do you think? Excuse the dazed expression, I was standing in front of the window and it was really bright!

Lush Storage

So if you read my blog and/or follow me on twitter you'll know about my lush addiction. It seems lots of beauty bloggers have been the same lately and I must admit that the free goodie bag when I spend £20 instore has helped increase my collection! But my question to you is.. how do you store your lush items?! I have bits of skincare, massage bars and lemony flutter in my room, shower gels and hair products around my bath and this is currently how I'm storing most of my bath ballistics, bubble bars, soaps etc but it's just too full and I can't see what anything is. Help needed lovelies!!

Happy 2010!

HAPPY 2010 EVERYONE!!!!!

Sorry for being somewhat AWOL over the last couple of weeks. I've spent most of it driving around to various parts of the country to visit people after passing my driving test! I promise from today updates will be more frequent. I know my favourite blogs are the ones that are updated frequently!

I have, however, started something for my blog. I'm using a different drugstore mascara every week at the moment to find out which, in my opinion, is the best and what I think about each mascara. I'm a mascara addict and I hope that my opinions will help somewhat! First up will be Rimmel's Sexy Curves. It's been 3 days and I'm absolutely adoring it so.. it'll be a good first review! TTYL xxxx
